Body Condition System Underweight Cat: The cat's ribs, backbone and pelvic bone can be seen from a distance. Increase the amount you are feeding. After 2-3 weeks, review again. Adjust feeding until cat exhibits ideal body condition. Ideal Body Condition: The outline of the cat's ribs can be seen and felt with a minimal layer of overlaying fat. A clear waistline is visible when viewing from above and a tummy tuck noticeable when viewing from the side. Maintain current feeding plan. Overweight Cat: No waistline is visible when viewing from above. The belly is rounded when viewed from the side. Decrease the amount you are feeding. After 2-3 weeks, review again. Adjust feeding until cat exhibits ideal body condition.
